Attack of the Giant Towhee
9X12 inches
Mixed Media on Canvas Board
I witnessed this beautiful morning on a November Day (sans giant Towhee) and was compelled to recreate the light and color in paint. Beautiful, bright sunlight filtered through the trees throughout my run but they truly dazzled me in this moment. The Towhee has a face that is overly serious, exaggerated by the down-turned corners of its beak, made even more ridiculous when singing with a wide open mouth despite its lovely little song! When trying out different placements of the paper bird, I saw that its little feet lined up perfectly with that tree in the mid-ground, and the Giant Towhee was born.
